SecurityMetrics Appliance Benefits

Intrusion Detection System (IDS), Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) and
Vulnerability Assessment
Maximum Attack Prevention
The SecurityMetrics Appliance protects against over 2,000+ attacks. The attacks may be initiated by external hacker attacks or by problems generated by your internal equipment or network users. An example would be a computer that is generating bad loopback traffic would be identified by its IP address. Or a user being "tricked" into a malicious cross site scripting site would be identified and the malicious site would be filtered from all your internal users.

Attack Groups
All 2,000+ attack signatures are organized into attack groups. This allows you to quickly customize your SecurityMetrics Appliance to conform to your security needs. These groups can be enabled or disabled with a single button click:

Automate Security Busy Work
SecurityMetrics Appliance automatically performs repetitive tasks to free up your time. An example is the optional Automatic Upstream Provider Network Notification module. This is how this module works. Whenever a severe attack is launched against your network the module automatically queries all registries (ARIN, LACNIC, RIPE, APNIC) to obtain the attacker's upstream network provider's administrator email. An email can automatically be sent to the upsteam network provider with adequate information so he can determine who on his network is initiating attacks.

Easy Integration
Integrating an Intrusion Detection/Prevention System can be complicated depending on your requirements. SecurityMetrics provides free IDS/IPS network implementation consulting to help you ensure the Appliance is properly integrated into your network. Simply call us at 801.705.5665 to schedule your consulting time.

Easy Configuration
Many Intrusion Detection Systems are difficult to navigate and configure. This weakness translates to false positives network administrator distrust of their system. The SecurityMetrics Appliance uses a simple web browser interface that makes tuning the Appliance easy. You can easily tune the system to remove false positives.

Flexibility
The SecurityMetrics Appliance does not force you to use every feature. You can use only those features that best meet your needs. The SecurityMetrics Appliance is designed to allow you to enable or disable modules easily with a click of a button using a simple web browser interface. You may use the optional IDS, IPS, firewall, vulnerability assessment or port scanning tools when you need them or let them run continuously.

Low Maintenance
The SecurityMetrics Appliance automatically updates the latest vulnerability assessment tools, IDS attack signatures and program enhancements every night. If you want to ensure you have the latest updates you can manually update the system with a simple mouse click.
